Entertainment Weekly has posted this first look at Tom Cruise in the title role of Paramount Pictures' Jack Reacher , directed and co-written by Christopher McQuarrie. Opening in theaters on December 21, the thriller is based on Lee Child�s best-selling novel "One Shot" and co-stars Rosamund Pike, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Alexia Fast, Robert Duvall, Jai Courtney and Werner Herzog.
Cruise plays an ex�military policeman turned vigilante drifter, who finds himself drawn into the case of a sniper who randomly targeted civilians. The magazine says:
Other than those ties to a haunted past, investigating soldiers who went lethally astray, Reacher has very little in the present.
